We are so passionate about the fact that SLPs CAN and SHOULD be in the literacy space.
Your background in language provides such a helpful foundation for students who are struggling with literacy. Couple that with the fact that there is a 50% estimated overlap of DLD and dyslexia (G. M. McArthur et al., 2000) and that 25% of children with SSDs also have word-reading challenges (Tamburaja et al., 2020), and it becomes a no brainer! We need more SLPs in the literacy space.
